This Month’s Biblical Theme Is: God Is Unchanging.
I really dislike change. But what I love is options. Hebrews 13:8 says: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. What we will see this month is the unchanging, unflinching nature of God. A God who is consistent in His love and perfect in His justice and reasonable in all of His ways.
We will see how He calls a nation to Himself and, in His love, corrects, restores and rescues her. The confidence we have as Christians doesn’t come from our perfect behavior but rather from the consistent, unchanging love of God for us in Christ.
Because God is consistent in His mercy and judgment, we never have to fear rejection or experience final retribution. His consistency in a world that is so radically inconsistent brings courage to our timid minds and strength to our anxious hearts. What a gift to have a solid rock on which to stand.

The Wilderness - Exodus 16, 25–27
God freed the Israelites from Egypt. They traveled toward the land God had promised Abraham long ago. God provided for their needs over and over. He appeared as a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night to guide them. When the Egyptians chased them, He split the Red Sea so they could safely cross. God provided quail and manna from heaven when they were hungry, and they struck a rock to produce water when they were thirsty.
God provides for us. James 1:17 tells us “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” Because God created everything, He owns everything. He loves us and knows what we truly need. God gave His most precious gift to provide a way for us to live forever with Him. He knew our sin separated each of us from Him. We could not fix our sin problem on our own. We needed a Savior. God provided His one and only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to pay the price for our sin. When we trust in Jesus, we can have a right relationship with God and live with Him forever. When we have a relationship with Jesus, we can pray and talk directly to God, asking Him for what we need.
