Embrace Generosity

Church on the Rock’s mission statement of leading people to a God who is for them and help them discover His purpose is possible because of your involvement and generosity.

Giving Confession

“Lord we faithfully and cheerfully worship you with our giving of tithes and offerings. We believe as we sow seed to establish the vision of your house, you will also establish ours. As a result of our giving we thank you for raises, increases, bonuses, gifts, canceled debt and surprise checks in the mail.

We bless you for blessing our health, giving us a sound mind, and quality relationships. Now help us God to know you as the God who is for us and to help people discover your purpose for their life in Jesus Name, Amen.”

Why we give

Money and church can be a touchy issue – but it doesn’t have to be.

We don’t give because God needs our money, and we don’t give because the church needs our money. It’s much bigger than that. We give because God asked us to, and following through shows that we trust Him.

God knows that your loyalty is found where your money is (Matthew 6:19-21). And because God wants to be first in our lives, he asks us to trust Him with our money.

For Christians, tithing (a word meaning ‘tenth’) is the starting point. Tithing is giving the first 10% of our income back to the local church. If you call Church On The Rock your home, we encourage you to give generously, knowing that your money is being used to support the mission of Jesus Christ – both here in Saint Louis, and around the world.

If you'd like to read more about what the Bible says about money, we recommend these passages:

Matthew 6:19-21 Leviticus 27:30 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 Psalm 24:1 Proverbs 3:9-10 Malachi 3:6-10 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

The Impact Of Giving

Thank you for trusting us with your giving. We don’t take it lightly. God has entrusted us with being wise with every dollar that comes in and we make sure that each dollar is spent with that in mind.

We will continue to be good stewards of the finances at Church on the Rock and we will continue to reach out beyond our four walls to make a difference in our community and around the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

God is our provider. He promises in Matthew 6:33 to provide for our needs. The Bible teaches that everything we have comes from God and belongs to Him. Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Therefore, we are mere stewards of what God has given to us. Tithing is giving back to God what is already His. We return 10% back to Him.

The word “tithe” means one tenth. So when you tithe, you give one tenth or 10% of your earnings. Tithing (10%) is the starting point of giving. Offerings are gifts given above the tithe. God has blessed some people financially who are able to give substantially more than 10% and still live comfortably.

We recognize that Jesus talked more about giving than He did on any other subject. Matthew 6:21 says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Together, we work as a church to reach the lost. Malachi 3:10 says, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enoughto store it.” The storehouse today is the local church you are attending. By partnering our monies together, God’s work is done more effectively.

Your gifts are used to fund God’s work through the ministry the church. We do this through our weekend services for adults and kids, and through our support of local and world wide missionaries. We can accomplish more together than separate.

The Lord requires us to be faithful regardless of how much He has entrusted to us. Luke 16:10 says “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” It is when we are having financial struggles that we can’t afford not to tithe. God wants us to trust Him in everything, including our finances. God asks us to tithe because through that, we become unselfish people and we show that we trust God to provide for our needs. As we grow in our relationship with Christ, it always requires faith. Trust God by giving to Him even when it seems impossible and allow Him to show you His provision for your life.
